Australian indie-pop trio daste. is back with a captivating new single, "Atlas". daste. is a trio consisting of Callum MacDonald, Braxton Tahi, and Tyler Harden. Their unique blend of indie-pop music infused with smooth R&B and soul influences creates a sound reminiscent of artists like LEISURE, Hard Life, and Jungle.
Their new track "Atlas" emerged as one of the first songs that defined the direction and feel of daste.'s new album. During an inspiring session, the trio—Callum MacDonald, Braxton Tahi, and Tyler Harden—found themselves creatively synchronized. They wrote about the stress and weight of life, drawing a parallel to the Greek myth of Atlas, who was condemned to hold up the sky for eternity. The song's core message is about enduring struggle, losing grip, but finding the strength to pick up and move forward.
“We wanted everything to be really consistent and have a similar feeling for the album and singles release cycle,” says Tyler Harden. This vision led them to work with a dedicated team, including Maxwell Byrne (Golden Vessel/1tbsp) and Bec Zanetti as co-directors for the video, with Tom Carrol (egumei) handling photography and editing. The result is a visually cohesive and playful music video that perfectly complements the song's presence.
To celebrate the release of "Atlas", daste. will embark on a tour starting in Australia in early August, followed by their first-ever shows across the USA and Canada in September and October. This tour promises to bring their new music to life on stage, with a revamped set designed to excite both the band and the audience.
