Southern California rock outfit TYBIRD are bringing a fresh wave of energy to rock ’n’ roll with their latest single, ‘Out of My Mind’, released on 25th September 2026. Fronted by Ty Morgan, the band combine gritty vocals, driving guitar riffs and powerful, emotionally charged melodies, drawing on the spirit of classic rock while carving out an identity of their own. Written by Morgan during his senior year of high school, the track reflects the pressure to follow a conventional path and the courage it takes to pursue what you truly believe in. From its intimate acoustic opening to its explosive instrumentals and soaring guitar solo, ‘Out of My Mind’ captures the raw emotion and chemistry at the heart of TYBIRD. Mixed by acclaimed producer Brian Scheuble, the single marks another exciting step forward for the band and their growing community of fans, affectionately known as the ‘Birdies’. We caught up with TYBIRD to discuss the story behind the track, their classic rock influences, the importance of staying true to yourself and what lies ahead for the band.

1. ‘Out of My Mind’ was written in your bedroom during your senior year of high school, when you were facing pressure to follow a more traditional path. Looking back, how much of that frustration still resonates with you, and has the meaning of the song changed since you first wrote it?

Looking back, I don't have any frustration anymore. I feel incredibly lucky and happy with the decision I've made, and I'm grateful that I've been able to pursue exactly what I've always wanted to do. This song captures exactly what I was feeling at that moment in my life, and I think it's something a lot of people in my generation can relate to, especially as more young people are starting to explore paths outside of the traditional college route.

2. The track opens with acoustic guitar before building into heavier instrumentals and a powerful guitar solo. How did you approach that dynamic shift, and what made it important to preserve that sense of raw emotion in the final recording?

I really wanted to show both sides of the story. That raw acoustic intro represents how the song was originally written in my bedroom, capturing the emotion and simplicity of where it all started. The transition into that bigger, heavier sound shows what I'm capable of—taking that original idea and transforming it into something powerful through rock 'n' roll. I wanted to keep that contrast because it tells the story of how the song came to life.

3. You’ve described ‘Out of My Mind’ as one of the first songs you recorded together as a band. What did bringing the track to life with TYBIRD reveal about your chemistry, and how did the song help shape the band's identity?

I knew this song was going to be powerful, but the first time we came into that beat drop together, it felt electric. Hearing it through the speakers for the first time really showed us just how big we could make this song. Everything sounded so large and wide, and we were incredibly pleased with how it came together. There was so much emotion in those choruses, and we actually all sang together like a choir during the recording to give them even more depth and feeling. I think that experience really showed us what we were capable of creating together as a band.

4. TYBIRD draw on the energy and attitude of classic rock while developing a sound of your own. Which artists or records first inspired you to pick up your instruments, and how do you balance those influences with your own musical identity?

We've always been heavily influenced by the classics, especially Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and Black Sabbath. Those bands have had a huge impact on our love for rock 'n' roll. But at the same time, we want to bring something new to the table. Our goal is to capture that same raw energy and attitude while creating a more modern sound that makes TYBIRD stand out. We want our music to feel authentic and powerful without losing the spirit of the bands that inspired us.

5. Your fans, known as the ‘Birdies’, seem to be a big part of the TYBIRD community. How important has that connection been as you've grown your audience, and what do you think makes the relationship between the band and its fans special?

I think the relationship between an artist and their community is one of the most important things in music. The idea that you can bring people together through sound and vibrations is such a crazy but beautiful thing, and we're incredibly lucky to experience it. I've never wanted people to feel like they're just fans. I want them to feel like family, like they're part of something bigger than just the music. That's what the Birdies mean to us, and it's something we want to continue building as we grow.

6. ‘Out of My Mind’ touches on the pressure to conform and the risk of pursuing something you believe in. What advice would you give to young musicians who are facing similar expectations from family, school or society while trying to follow their creative ambitions?

My advice would be to get obsessed with something you truly believe in, because that passion gives you hope and something to work towards. Happiness is incredibly important, but the reality is we can't always be happy. What we can do is stay hopeful about what the future holds. Being genuinely passionate about something is a special thing, and if you can take that passion and create something that brings value to the world or positively impacts other people, I think that's one of the most amazing things you can do.

7. The single was mixed by Brian Scheuble, whose credits include artists such as Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks and Bon Jovi. What was it like having someone with that level of experience work on your music, and did the process influence how you think about recording and production?

We've been fortunate enough to work with some incredible people, and Brian's work is truly amazing. When you're looking for someone to mix your music, you obviously want someone with a great résumé, but Brian's is just insane. He's worked with so many legendary artists who have inspired us and shaped the music we love. To have someone with that kind of experience working on our own music was a real honor, and we're incredibly grateful to have had that opportunity.

8. With ‘Out of My Mind’ marking another step forward for TYBIRD, what's next for the band? Are you looking towards a larger body of work, more live shows, or exploring new directions in your sound?

Going forward, I believe things are only going to get bigger and stronger for TYBIRD. We're going to keep pushing ourselves, growing as a band, and working towards our goal of bringing rock 'n' roll back to a new generation. Most importantly, we want to keep creating and releasing as much music as we can for everyone who's been supporting us. This is only the beginning, and we're excited for what's ahead.
