As The Hardened Heart approaches, Josh Banton appears ready to leave an old chapter behind.

If you didn't believe Josh Banton when he said this marks a new era for the young artist, it's time to start noticing. Just a few days ago, Banton announced that something would be released on October 18th at 2pm, and indeed, it did.

On Sunday, Josh announced the upcoming release of his next single leading up to the launch of The Hardened Heart. The 30-second visual gave us chills as it showed Josh standing in front of a grave marker, with cinematic flashes of his persona from the Temperature and Caribbean Girls era. It evokes strong Death to Slim Shady vibes in terms of visuals and marketing, indicating that if you didn't believe him before, he's accelerating with his next single for Funeral.

We had an exclusive opportunity to see the track when Josh performed it at the 5 or 5,000 event. It's definitely a stark contrast to "Stand on It," but the track demonstrates that Josh has mastered his niche and is prepared to advance to the next stage of his career.

Here are some questions that can be asked after watching this teaser

“Is Josh Banton preparing us for the death of his former musical identity, or is Funeral simply the beginning of a darker, more personal chapter in his career?” "Are we witnessing the end of the Josh Banton we once knew and the birth of an artist who's finally found his true identity?”

“With Funeral, is Josh Banton leaving his past behind, or confronting the very experiences that shaped him?”

“Could The Hardened Heart be the project that takes Josh Banton from a promising emerging artist to a fully realized storyteller?”

“What does it mean when an artist symbolically buries his past, and what should listeners expect from the person who emerges?”

With The Hardened Heart on the horizon, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: Josh Banton isn't just releasing new music. He's building a narrative, and we're watching it unfold one chapter at a time.
