  • T-Roy kicks off the Era of Cufflinks with Dance Like its 92

T-Roy, also known as Reezy, has just released the latest single from the much-anticipated "Cognac and Cufflinks" today, and it's got us grooving through our daily routines. As noted by Andrew Flanagan of Billboard, 1992 is considered the pinnacle of 90's music, with Columbia Music subscriptions introducing a new era of music distribution by sending free CDs to customers everywhere, delivering hits from the Beastie Boys, Dr. Dre, and others. The single takes us back to those glorious times. Upon our initial listen, we found ourselves captivated by the song's intro, which immediately struck a chord with us, prompting us to mention to T-Roy that it bore a striking resemblance to the distinctive style of Slick Rick. This comparison is particularly poignant as Slick Rick is renowned for his storytelling prowess and unique vocal delivery, which have defined a significant era in hip hop history. The way the intro unfolds transports us back to the vibrant and transformative early days of hip hop, a time characterized by innovative beats, lyrical creativity, and a sense of community that was palpable in the air. In addition to the homage to Slick Rick, we were also reminded of the iconic track "1999" by Prince. This classic not only encapsulates the spirit of celebration and revelry but also evokes a sense of nostalgia for a time when music was a unifying force, bringing people together to dance and celebrate life. The infectious energy of both Slick Rick's storytelling and Prince's euphoric soundscape resonates deeply within the fabric of the song, creating a rich tapestry of influences that enrich the listening experience. As we immerse ourselves in the music, we can't help but reflect on the importance of celebrating life with our loved ones. The lyrics and melodies invite us to gather together, to revel in the joy of shared moments, and to create lasting memories. In a world that often feels chaotic and uncertain, the ability to come together, to laugh, dance, and enjoy each other's company, becomes all the more precious. Let us cherish these moments and celebrate with our loved ones until we can no longer, embracing the joy of connection and the power of music to elevate our spirits and strengthen our bonds. The upcoming project Cognac and Cufflinks is a dedication to T-Roy's grandmother and it will be dropping in fourth quarter 2026. Follow him on Instagram @theofficialtroydpe

  • The Romantic Era: Bruno Mars Delivers a #1 Album Fueled by Nostalgia & Love

Image : Getty Images After nine long years and several award-winning featured singles, Bruno Mars delivered what fans have been eagerly waiting for by releasing The Romantic just before Valentine's Day. This nine-track project, accompanied by a tour, showcases the Bruno Mars we all adore, with an added romantic flair. The album evokes the essence of 90s Michael Jackson, Prince, and Marvin Gaye. According to Variety, the album debuted at number one on the charts, marking his first full-length project to achieve this milestone. It sold 186,000 copies in its first month, charting faster than Unorthodox Jukebox did in 2013, which took three months. Bruno wasn't just expressing love in this project; he fully embodied it, infusing every note and lyric with a profound sense of passion and commitment. Musically, he brings back the art of serenading, crafting an intimate experience where the listener feels like the sole audience member in a private concert. His voice flows throughout the project with a remarkable fluidity, demonstrating vocal versatility that skillfully merges the rich sounds of 70s soul and funk with the timeless essence of classic crooner vibes. This combination provides the listener with a rich, warm, and intentional experience that resonates on multiple emotional levels. From the lead single I Just Might , which sets the tone with its infectious rhythm and heartfelt lyrics, to the fan favorite On My Soul , which draws nostalgic parallels to Michael Jackson 's iconic tracks like The Way You Make Me Feel and PYT , the project showcases Bruno's ability to channel the spirit of past musical greats while still carving out his unique identity. The way he crafts melodies and harmonies invites the audience to reminisce while simultaneously engaging them in the present moment of his artistry. Tracks like Cha Cha Cha and Dance With Me evoke the playful, exuberant energy of Kiss and 1999 from Prince, seamlessly blending those influences with the smooth, romantic essence of Rock With You . These songs are not merely throwbacks; they are modern interpretations that reflect Bruno Mars' evolution as an artist, finely tuned to represent where he is at this stage in his life. His growth is evident, as he navigates themes of love, joy, and self-reflection, all while maintaining a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly innovative. The production throughout the project complements his vocal prowess, layering rich instrumentation that enhances the emotional weight of his lyrics. Each track is a testament to his dedication to the craft, showcasing not just his technical skills but also his deep understanding of the music's emotional core. Bruno's ability to connect with his audience is palpable, as he invites them into his world, making them feel each beat, each word, and each heartfelt sentiment. This project is not just an album; it is a celebration of love in all its forms, delivered through the lens of an artist who has mastered the art of musical storytelling Our top picks from the project were Cha Cha Cha , Who You Wanna Fight , God Was Showing Off , and I Just Might . Each track delivered its unique allure, devotion, and conflict, encapsulating all aspects of a complete love story. They conveyed a sense of vulnerability while energizing us to dance to the music, reminiscent of the classic Bruno vibes that perfected the formula he introduced years ago.

  • Womens History Month Rawrrzone Spotlight Interview: Bebe Flight Creating Space for Authentic Artist Conversations

Since early 2017, we have known Bebe as a young pioneer who has amplified the voices of Long Island artists through her involvement in the Earwaxx Sessions , thanks to our friends at The Label Noir. We are grateful for introducing us to Bebe and the immense talent of the Long Island independent scene. From there, she has consistently highlighted the independent scene as a whole. Inspired by legends like Angie Martinez and Nyla Simone, she has created several platforms, with the most notable being LipsticknLyricsz and The Late Show with Bebe Flight @bebelateshow . She has established platforms grounded in intention, storytelling, and genuine connection. In a media landscape driven by virality, Bebe Flight continues to provide a space for independent artists to be heard and understood. Her journey reflects purpose, ownership, and the impact of women shaping narratives in music journalism, while supporting creatives in their development. At Welcome to the Rawrrzone, as we continue to celebrate creatives, we are proud to feature Bebe Flight as our March Women's History Month Rawrrzone Spotlight. 1. Where did your journey with music really start? My journey with music started as a listener first. I was always drawn to lyrics, liner notes, and the stories behind the songs. I wanted to understand why music made people feel the way it did. Earwaxx Sessions became my first real community space where music shifted from something I loved to something I actively participated in. That experience opened the door to writing, curating, hosting, and eventually creating platforms rooted in storytelling and connection. 2. When did you realize this was more than just a hobby? I realized it was more than a hobby when I kept showing up even when there was no money, no recognition, and no guarantees. When I was tired, overwhelmed, and still felt called to do the work, that’s when I knew this wasn’t temporary. This was purpose. 3. What do LipsticknLyricsz and Late Night with Bebe Flight represent for you creatively and personally? Creatively, they represent freedom and growth. Personally, they represent legacy. LipsticknLyricsz is my foundation and my written voice. Late Night with Bebe Flight is that same voice brought to life through conversation. Both reflect my evolution as a woman, a journalist, and a creative who trusts her instincts. 4. How has your platform evolved since you first started? My platform has become more intentional. I’ve moved from simply covering music to adding context and meaning to it. I’m no longer chasing moments. I’m building something sustainable, thoughtful, and rooted in purpose. 5. Why is it important for women to own platforms in music journalism? Ownership allows women to control narratives, tone, and representation. We ask different questions and tell stories with nuance. Owning platforms means we don’t have to wait for permission to be heard or validated. 6. What responsibility do you feel when telling artists’ stories? I take that responsibility seriously. Artists trust me with their experiences, and my job is to honor that trust. I’m mindful of telling stories with care, accuracy, and respect, without exploiting vulnerability for engagement. 7. Who are some women in media that inspired you to keep pushing? Ananda Lewis showed me the power of authenticity. Angie Martinez redefined longevity and trust in media. Nyla Simone represents the next generation moving with intention. Big Lez showed the importance of building community. Karen Civil demonstrated the impact of ownership and strategy. Issa Rae inspired me to build what I didn’t see and bet on myself. 8. How do you protect your voice and authenticity in a content-driven industry? I protect my voice by slowing down and being selective. I don’t feel pressure to comment on everything. I stay grounded by creating from honesty instead of urgency. 9. What inspired you to create Late Night with Bebe Flight? I wanted conversations that felt real and unforced. I wanted artists to feel comfortable enough to exhale. Late Night with Bebe Flight was created to humanize creatives, not just promote them. 10. Why was the late-night format the right lane for your voice and vision? Late-night allows space for depth, humor, and vulnerability. It fits my natural rhythm and conversation style. It’s not rushed, and it gives people room to be fully themselves. 11. What gap did you see in media that made you say this show needed to exist? I saw a lack of care and intention in interviews. Too many platforms prioritize virality over connection. This show exists to center listening, respect, and meaningful dialogue. 12. How did your background with LipsticknLyricsz shape the foundation of the show? Writing taught me how to listen, how to ask better questions, and how to read between the lines. That skillset carries directly into every conversation on the show. 13. Why was spotlighting independent artists and creatives important to you? Independent artists are where culture begins. I intentionally create space for conversations about process, growth, doubt, and sustainability, not just success stories. 14. Why are platforms like Late Night with Bebe Flight important right now? The industry is oversaturated with content but lacks depth. Platforms like this create space for thoughtful, honest conversations that contribute meaningfully to music and culture. 15. How has picking up a camera changed your view of media? Photography gave me a deeper respect for every part of storytelling. It taught me patience, perspective, and the importance of visual narrative alongside conversation. 16. How do you feel you have grown since your days as curator of the Earwaxx Sessions? I’m more confident, more grounded, and more intentional. I understand my value, protect my energy, and trust my vision in ways I didn’t before. 17. What’s next? Expansion, evolution, and deeper storytelling. I’m focused on building platforms that have longevity and impact. I’m just getting started. • Teddy Grahams Returns With “Freak on You” — A Nostalgic NYC Hip-Hop & Caribbean Fusion Featuring Kony Brooks, Saay Park & Diipps

February ended on a high note with a special release. For the first time since 2022, Teddy Grahams unveiled his much-anticipated single "Freak on You," featuring Diipps, Saay Park, and Kony Brooks. This track transports us back to the vibrant nights of 2016-2018 when Teddy Grahams and Kony Brooks, along with the rest of ICMG 2 Deep, dominated every stage in New York City. In many ways, Katie Kay has often remarked that he somehow inherited all the producing prowess from his father, Prince , by transforming the No Letting Go beat into a high-energy mix of lyrical intensity and Caribbean melodies, enhanced by the vocals of Saay Park and Diipps. This has become the new go-to vibe for Friday nights. One thing for sure, no pun intended to his earlier project but one thing we can see is the consistency that Teddy has put out as far as has musical content and theme sticking to the Thot Boy persona Freak on You continues the trend that When Night Falls has started showcasing a more X-Rated yet mature version of Grahams. From the producing to the bars we see the changes in word play, will this song lead us to a possible video or more from the Bronx native? Having both Kony Brooks and Teddy Grahams featured on the same track was a real treat. Reflecting on the nostalgic elements of this track, those familiar with New York City's independent hip-hop scene would recognize how Kony Brooks and Teddy Grahams stood out, from their captivating stage presence to their raw energy when the beat hit. If there were an OG set list, this song could have been the opener, offering a glimpse of what ICMG 2 Deep has to offer. They each contribute distinctive and dynamic elements to the song. The combination of the Alpha and the Omega captivates you with their presence as they complement each other's chemistry and performance skills. Including Saay Park and Diipps enhances the song, making it the sexy and confidently executed piece we hear today. Follow him everywhere @iamteddygrahams7

  • Interview with Belgian rock heavyweights Triggerfinger

Photo by CHARLIE DE KEERSMAECKER After more than 25 years together, Triggerfinger aren’t interested in becoming a nostalgia act. The Belgian trio has built its reputation on raw power and explosive live shows, but with “Come Clean”, they open a new chapter shaped by time, change, loss and renewed creative hunger. Following a long break, side projects, and the passing of founding bassist Monsieur Paul, the band returns with a fresh perspective while holding on to the chemistry that’s carried them for nearly three decades. In this conversation, Triggerfinger reflect on evolution, honesty, working again with producer Mitchell Froom, and what still drives them to plug in and start over. • After 25 years as a band, how do you stop Triggerfinger from becoming a museum piece of its own past? As a band, we try to challenge ourselves by not repeating the same things over and over again. We’re also different people now than when we started, older, with more life experience, more baggage, kids, relationships... all of that shapes who we are. That naturally brings new perspectives and new stories to tell, and that’s a great thing. • “Come Clean” is described as a shift in your musical DNA. Was changing your sound exciting, or a little terrifying? When we write music, we don’t consciously think about changing our sound or direction. We just follow the flow and make the music we like. But making a new album is always challenging, it’s stepping into the unknown, and that can surprise you in the best ways. It was also great working with Mitchell Froom again. He’s an old-school producer with a strong sense for arrangement, and he approaches things differently every time. He really encourages you to be like a child on a playground to experiment and make mistakes. • Fans know Triggerfinger for raw, overdriven power. This track feels tighter and more rhythm-driven. Were you deliberately trying to surprise people? We never do anything deliberately to surprise people. We simply follow what we like musically. Over the past 25 years, we’ve always explored different sides of our sound even on earlier records we had softer or more subtle tracks. Variety has always been part of who we are. • You’ve worked with Mitchell Froom for years. At this stage of your career, what does he still challenge you to do differently? Working with Mitchell again was fantastic. He has a deep understanding of song arrangement and constantly finds new ways to approach things. He pushes you to stay curious, to experiment, and to allow yourself to make mistakes. That sense of freedom keeps you evolving as a band. • You took a long sabbatical after 2019. When you finally came back together, did the band feel familiar or did it feel like starting over? The break actually started after our 2018 tour celebrating 20 years of the band. We felt it was a good moment for everyone to explore other projects, Ruben made a solo record, I worked on Sloper, and Paul released his own material. Then COVID hit, and everything was postponed for another three years. After the pandemic, we started playing smaller summer festivals, so we saw each other regularly again. So it never felt like starting all over again. • Ruben talks in the song about the difficulty of confessing feelings. After decades in the spotlight, is honesty harder or easier than it used to be? It really depends on the situation. But as long as you stay honest with yourself, things usually fall into place in the end. • The band has lived through huge highs—opening for the Stones, viral success with “I Follow Rivers”—and also real loss. How has that shaped the way you approach making music now? All of those experiences shape you as a person. The highs and the lows, whatever the reason leave their mark. Often it happens unconsciously when you write. It influences how you see the world today, or how you look back at the past from a distance. All of that feeds into the music. • With Monsieur Paul’s passing last year, continuing the band must carry a lot of emotion. Does being on stage together feel different since then? Paul had already stepped away from the band about two years earlier due to health reasons, so we had begun that transition before his passing. We played a series of farewell shows in Belgium and the Netherlands, which were very special. After that, Geoffrey Burton who had already been touring with us as a second guitarist stepped in to take over bass duties. Of course it’s emotional, but it’s also a continuation of something we built together. • You’ve always been known as a ferocious live act. When writing new material, are you thinking first about how it will feel on stage rather than on record? No, not at all. When we’re writing, we never think about the live aspect. That comes much later, when we start rehearsing for a tour. Then you sometimes feel instinctively that a song will really work on stage. It’s never a rule, it’s all about feeling and letting go. • After everything Triggerfinger has been through—breaks, changes, tragedy, and rebirth—what still gives you that “hunger” to plug in and start again? The hunger to make new music and the chemistry between us. That’s something you only truly understand after being in a band together for so long. We genuinely enjoy making records, and we love being on the road. We’ve been doing this for 28 years now, and it’s still a lot of fun. Why change a winning team?
