If you were a child of the 90s, you likely remember her as the mom everyone admired. Seeing this on social media undoubtedly brought joy to your inner child. Patricia Richardson played the mother on Home Improvement, the TV series that catapulted Tim Allen to fame. The sitcom premiered in 1991, following the life of Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor, played by Tim Allen, as he balanced his TV career with his home life alongside Jill and their three sons, portrayed by Zachary Ty Bryan, Taran Noah Smith, and 90s heartthrob Jonathan Taylor Thomas. It wrapped up in May 1999 after 204 episodes. Now, 27 years after the series finale, Richardson, who had stepped back from acting, offers us a rare glimpse into her life with a spontaneous photo featuring her "Other Boys <3".
"I'd been going nonstop since I was 8 years old," Thomas told People in a 2013 interview. "I wanted to go to school, to travel and have a bit of a break."
The photo, which includes Taran Noah Smith and Jonathan Taylor Thomas, is the first in years since both Thomas and Smith stepped away from acting. Thomas left during the filming of Home Improvement to further his education in Philosophy and History at Harvard, eventually obtaining his degree in General Studies from Columbia. Smith currently works as a sea recovery technician at SpaceX, having previously ventured into vegan food entrepreneurship. Bryan, who is not pictured here, is currently serving 19 months in Oregon for violating three counts of his parole.
I understand that many might assume this implies a Home Improvement reboot, but unfortunately, that's not the case. Although the cast has reunited on several of Tim Allen's shows, they are not currently interested, apart from Allen, in returning to the spotlight full-time for a version of the show featuring the grown-up boys.
