- Two of WVMR's biggest Personalities are making Power Moves
It has been a month of news and splashes amongst the Indie Scene as two of WVMR's shows and hosts have gotten a big boost in their careers. The first announcement came at the recent Friday Night Mics powered by Rockview Entertainment on April 27th as WVMR Co-Owner and head of Rockview Entertainment has announced DJ - CMurda as an official Rockview DJ and not only that he will also be an official DJ for 1017 Brick Squad Mafia. We at Rawrr are super proud of him as he is a young DJ in the business and he is progressing so fast. Leave it to S-Rock himself to make a power move like that. If you do not know what 1017 Brick Squad Mafia is the label founded by Gucci Maine and is the home of some of your favorite hiphop artists. It only goes upward from here for the Brooklyn DJ . More recently on an episode of Darkside Radio Blackout the Rebel had the infamous Konceited Show in the building discussing his latest tour as well as the power moves he has been making for his brand, music, and himself. One of these amazing changes that were presented was that our big homie Blackout is now a member and is sponsored by the Dark Kings Movement. The Dark Kings is a rap group started by Konceited Show himself which incorporates rappers from diff walks of life and put out fire bars. It would be no suprise that Blackout goes from being a Rebel to being a King. Congratulations Blackout should we expect a collaboration from you and Konceited Show? With all these moves happening we can see them going big, if you haven't been following them follow them now! IG @officialdjcmurda and @blkouttherebel
- B.Morgan Reminds us How Much We Love our Mothers in Salute You
"Blessed is a mother that would give up part of her soul for her children's happiness ." - Shannon L. Alder As all blogs from Monday Night Rawrr there are always personal insight coming from us. Growing up with no father I had learned my mother was both my mother and father. She made so many sacrifices for me to be who I am today from giving up a meal for herself to leaving a great job with Georgios hairstyle chain and even at one point Giorgio Armani for a job that would provide benefits for her children and her two nephews that she raised since she was seventeen years old. If you thought Katie Kay was a pain in the a** now imagine as a kid. Watching B.Morgan's video for Salute you made me be so grateful to come from the rib that is my mother. Former Monday Night Rawrr guest did give us the heads up when he was going to California magic will be made and he held on his promise. The tribute to all women in this video will make you really tear and think about the importance and the power that all females give to their loved ones and more. The timing and execution of this was perfect as he had dropped it on May 13th (mother's day). The Mor Value signee is winning with a single such as this, its not only the fact the song has the potential of an amazing hit but at the same time he has such conviction and the passion within the track itself that it resonates deep inside your soul. Plus heres a spoiler for a ladies, you get to see the Mor Value CEO Scott Morris in a suit brace yourselves ladies!! But don't take my word for it watch the video now and follow B. - All Hail the King is the New Era of Kony Brooks
Many think of Kony Brooks as leader of the Thot Boys, the person you do not want in your mother's bedroom, and the owner of ICMG 2 Deep. For the last year he was always behind the scenes since his release of Kony Island 2 although he was performing and doing interviews promoting the Thot Boys and singles put out by members of ICMG 2 Deep he was also building what can possibly be his best album to date. The Album to be released on May 31st the day of Brooks Birthday has features from Pretty Girl First , Mickey Facts , Jr Just Real and more.. With four singles having premiere on Rawrr we see great promise in the Bronx King. We write about him today because we had a sneak peek to the young mogul's listening session a month ago, and we seen many changes from what we normally see and we hear things we did not expect. Certain tracks had us in tears. Seems like he had so much on his mind for so long hes finally letting it out, and by the looks of it we will all love it. It is a more mature and serious Kony Brooks, I honestly welcome it especially since we are in a world where everyone looks for themselves and forget everyone else. As a person that has worked with him I look forward to the release of the album, I look forward to listening to the project and intently studying it. If you have overlooked Kony Brooks before you definately will not once All Hail The King is out. Follow Kony Brooks everywhere @konybrooks
- Its a Cinco De Mayo surpise as Meko Sky releases a New Song
When it comes to Ei8th Productions you never know what to expect honestly. Nequasia can get Hella Bent and try to Rewind, Quest will pill pop and there will be Love and Consequence but no one knows what is really up with the group when they will put new music, drop a visual, or put a remix. It makes their music even more amazing. With the stroke of 12 on Cinco de Mayo leader of Ei8th Meko Sky releases a new song Distance . Unclear as to who he is seeking distance from or if the track is based on life events but the Bronx MC has taken it a little of a dance track that you can groove too while at home getting ready for that night out. At the same time makes you realize about the times you've put distance to things or people not good for you. What I love personally about Meko's music is that its very raw and personal while at the same time he has a subtle sound so you would understand the meaning without having to really search for the meaning. With 2.08k likes on audiomack we see that many agree with my opinions. Listen to this track online and more on audiomac

- RAWRR SPOTLIGHT - OZSPE
With a Voiceless music award for Best Freestyle on Wax with label mate and manager Phenom of SoPhenomenal Entertainment and a hit with his verse on the Feel No Way Remix Orlando Ortiz or commonly known as Oz has started to make a name for himself in the INDIEstry as he is showing that he will take no prisoners and he will make a stance using his music. His latest single my people that released April 7th is just the beginning of what he has in store for us. As a member of SPE since 2011 he has developed his style of music and has made his music relatable not only to himself but to everyone that likes to be outside of the box. Although he has taken a hiatus for some time to work behind the scenes of the label, know he was never invisible and he is an intricate member of the powerhouse that is So Phenomenal Entertainment. He is the definition of Be True, Be You , Be So Phenomenal. Many of his singles of course has been put in the SPE vault but his singles such as Oh My Darling, Keep Em Guessing, Her Body and even his collaboration with Grizelle Rodriguez and Phenom shows his versatile style and his advance lyricism. Many have recognized him from the Feel No Way Remix but he was a titan in his own right way before this remix ever came out and it is time that people got to know about him. 1) Tell us where you got the name Oz from? The name Oz is actually my full name shortened, The first letter of my First name and the last letter of my last name. 2) Tell us about your journey into music? I come from an old school Puerto Rican Family which raised me listening to classic spanish music, Hector Lavoe, Selena, Marc Anthony, Enrique Iglesias, Jerry Rivera, Celia Cruz, i wasn't introduced to English music till I was about 12 years old, as i recall the first Hip Hop Track i ever memorized was In da Club by 50 cent. Since then i have gained such a love for Hip hop, rap, and word play. Shortly after, i got into Eminem and Lil Wayne or anything lyrical 3) How would you describe yourself artistically? If I am not having fun writing or creating content then I am more than likely not gonna do it. Udo this music thing not because it pays, but because I enjoy creating and having others see the world from my perspective. 4) How do you stand apart from your fellow artists? For one, I never got into music to party, I saw it as a way to not only reach the masses but teach them, ultimately i want to build a platform in which I will use to spread the proper information to where it needs to be. iIthink that is what we lack in todays day and age. 5) Why did you take a hiatus ? I took a public hiatus, but behind the scenes I have been working hard on my craft, building relationships and networks as well as adding accolades to my resume. 6) How do you feel about working with Phenom? How has he helped you through your journey as an artist? Working with the bossman has been such a blessing. He is the backbone to the company we run together, he is also a well respected individual within not only the Indie scene but on an International level. He has placed me in situations that i would have never been able to do myself, I have always told him that he places me in the right place at the right time. I am honored to work and be signed to him and SPE. His work ethic, integrity of character and the way he has an ear for sounds is top notch. He places all the pieces in my hands, i just need to put them together and close the gap. 7) How do you feel headlining your first event, let alone a Daze Summit Stage? I've never thought of it this way. yes i'm headlining an event and it feels amazing, it really does, especially it being a NYC event, especially it being Daze summit, but i'm used to playing the admin role, its a blessing to be able to play admin and artist, but it feels better this year coming out as solely an artist. 8) Tell us about my people ? My people is one of my most recently written and recorded tracks. It incorporates both of the cultures and languages I speak and practice, being Puerto Rican as well as being an American (Spanish and English). I had too much fun writing it, but i really enjoyed the process. 9) What caused the shift in direction in your music from your older tracks until now? For the most part it was pretty discouraging writing music trying to enlighten people and nobody would really listen. My music at the time was too lyrical, there were to many metaphors and I was too political, Phenom has shown me how to get a message across while being a bit more commercial and it has helped me tremendously. 10) How did you get involved in the Feel No Way Remix by Live Johnson? How do you feel about all the attention you have been receiving from your fellow peers? How did Phenom feel when the final project came out? I have worked with Live Johnson in the past in terms of graphics but when i heard Feel no way, i asked him was he gonna do a remix and if he was then i wanted to be apart of that. what most people don't know is I had my part written way before he even sent me the beat. Sometimes I work on projects just because I like them that much, by the time i sent him my part, he informed me that Kony and Ray were gonna be on it and since i already sent in my part I honestly was a bit worried that i would have to re-write my verse. The attention i have been receiving from it has been a blessing and hearing whispers of me having the best verse is humbling. Phenom secretly expected that reaction, not the part of having the best verse but the part where people would talk so when I started receiving feedback he literally said, you see why i call you SPE's secret weapon. i have to proud of this but I also cant lose focus on the next goal. 11) What is your support system like? How have your friends and family liked your musical journey and current product? The friends i keep know nothing much about my music, i mean they have heard it but I've been friends with these people since 6th grade. They help me step away from the music. I appreciate them for that reason. In terms of family, my whole family loves what i'm doing and they for the most part come out to every show. 12) What is next for Oz? I have a few singles lined up to be released, a video for Her body that i'm currently working on, and a cypher, other than that anything else I create is going in the SPE vault. Find Oz on Instagram @ozspe Like him on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/oz.the.great.spe/ Check out his soundcloud here https://soundcloud.com/oz_the_great Buy and stream My People on all music streaming platforms everywhere !! - Rawrr Spotlight - Nikko Tesla
Many know of him for the infamous DJ drop " Talk your Shit Beloved" but there is more to Queens MC and rapper Nikko Tesla. Born to Sandra Simon back up dancer and nephew to disco legend Gloria Gaynor the lyrical giant was born to a family of music and love. At the young and tender ages Nikko learned the act of songwriting from his mother Sandra Simon of Simon Said in which she gave him homework to complete before he can continue the next step of his musical studies. While learning songwriting and composing Nikko also learned the love of musical instruments and began to teach himself after watching his family sing. However the lyrical flow constructing the talent he is today came from listening to Nas and constructing his words from there. As he continued to grow he had worked with collectives and has won numerous awards. His passion and drive continues to exhume through the air he breathes. He does not care about the standard that the INDIEstry has posed and is not afraid to speak his mind. He currently has a distribution for spotify and continues to work wonders with some of today's top artists. The young artist has released Judy's Gone in February of 2018 which has surpassed over 2000 spins within the first week of it's release. Judy's Gone describes loosing a love after making a mistake, something all of us can relate to. What stands out about the track is that Tesla is very versatile from his tough and gritty rap to a slow rap with a melodious voice that is Jayce Hightower. Tesla has not only become a name in this industry for himself but he has become a role model and he looks out for others. Check out Judy's Gone on audiomac and follow him on Instagram @izone_nikko Monday Night Rawrr returns on April 9th with VDP Kony Brooks and Bizzy Bee make sure you follow us on all social media platforms for more info.

- Album Alert - Bryan Joon
With the strike of 12 on his birthday Bryan Joon released his self entitled album which took the entire indiestry by a storm. The young artist with the 90's R&B voice with a heart to match wowed us with the album that took a long time to complete. Bryan Joon is one of the most talented artists I have ever met with a Sam Smith meets Bryan McKnight type of voice. The album released a month ago February 24th was the compilation had 12 amazing songs and you can understand the motions of love and life. As he described in his interview on Monday Night Rawrr the project was his evolution of sorts. Everything Bryan does he does with such love, conviction, and dedication that you cant help but fall in love with what he does. What we love about this album is that it will make you think of a person that does have your heart without a doubt. Whether he / she is in your heart for good reasons or bad they are just there and each song gives you a different scenario of what each song brings to you. Our favorite songs must include Pretend , Name , and Empire . When talking about Pretend we think about the friend that we wish we can be with and that person should stop playing. That just because your someones close friend sometimes you do not have to play pretend. Name brings you that feeling that you get when you first meet that special person and you just want to know their name and everything about them. That feeling you look across the room and get that love at first sight type of feel. Empire talks about life when things dont work out, when that person was not who you had expect. What really stood out to me the most was the beat, more fast paced than the others it also has a different tone that set this song different from the rest. It was the perfect song to close the album, making his stance as an independent holding himself in his empire. If you haven't picked up this album you should or your a #DUB Follow him on instagram @bryanjoonmusic Remember Monday Night Rawrr returns April 9th with VDP in the building Follow us on all social media platforms!
- Zeyi has us saying Amen with his latest release
The gentlemen of Mor Value are an illustrious group led by Nigel Scott Morris. They might not always be in the spotlight but it does not mean they aren't working. The last time Rawrr spotted our subject of the day Zeyi was around Christmas for a holiday song that made all the girls wishing they were under the mistletoe with him. Last night the Mor Value artist posted the visual to his latest track Amen and does it have you questioning religion and our way of life. The video directed by Anthony Sylvester has you picturing religion as a trip and I dont mean vacation trip; the type of trip you have when you had too many sandwiches (How I Met Your Mother Fans will understand this reference). The graphics and effects had Zeyi at various points looking like a hallucination. As a whole the song has you thinking about the relationship with yourself and your relationship with religion and at times especially during the hard times maybe you want to just throw your hands up do a prayer and scream Amen! Check this video out on Youtube and follow Zeyi on Instagram @ZeyiSays Remember Rawrr will be back April 9th with VDP in the building! Follow us on all social media platforms.
- Why Lips Web series gave me a new outlook?
Disclaimer: This blog post can get emotional, but I hope it can help some people if they have been through the same. I can be the first to admit that I have never really watched web series on youtube because I have a short intention span when it comes to youtube, I usually watch music videos then switch and click to the next one. Then one day a good friend of ours at Rawrr X-YLE talked to me about a web-series he was partaking in as an actor and I thought why not let me check it out. I must say for the first time in my life there was a program that changed my life. The Web series nominated for six awards in the Urban Web Series awards so you must make sure you go vote for it. The Lips (Love Inside Prevails) is a web series that reflects on the life of Farah (Nikki Owens), Willy (Malachai Rivers) , and their daughter Melissa (Brittany Angelica Chance). When Willy gets involved in a certain situation it comes back to haunt his family causing one of the main characters Melissa to be raped and it describes Melissa's journey through out the web series and how she deals with her trauma as well as her view of love. After quite a few hours of binge watching all episodes which were 20 minutes to 30 minutes each, there was a final message that was put from the creator of the show in which she described the show as a way for her to tell her story. Without getting into the details of the video and maintain the respect of her privacy she discusses how this was an outlet to help her especially when she wanted to scream when everything happened, and certain scenes were from her life story, while the rest of the show were instances she wish had happened as opposed to what happened in real life. Things she wished that would happen. I cant say what because then I would be including spoilers and people hate spoilers. As a victim of rape, I sympathized to the max, as much as I loved my father he made some mistakes in his past and following to learn some of the mistakes and the issues I ran into a person that changed me in the worst way. After being raped on my 17th birthday I was forced to learn on my own how to deal with life; and for ten years I had thought I was the one at fault for what happened. That everything that happened to me after was due to a false sense of love. That no one ever loved me, that I would always be alone and I have isolated people because of it and ruined relationships that were beneficial to me while getting into relationships that hurt me. I was diagnosed with both PTSD and Depression due to what had happened on that erie night on June 9th. Getting into photography and meeting people later on that became my best friends as well as later on working at WVMR I learned my purpose in life and started working to better myself and get my life together. Watching the web series and listening to what the author said it really resonated with me because so many women do not have the opportunity to talk about their experience. They are told to keep quiet, not to let the rest of your family know until its too late. Even if you report it to the police they sometimes get the slap on the wrist, or your just too scared to pull the trigger. Or they tell you the right thing is to not press charges because you would be ruining someones life. I regret not pressing charges years ago, but seeing this come to life in a way it made me realize im not at fault that so many females are not at fault for what they go through. So many voices need to honestly be heard and not many females get a chance to speak up. Watching this show makes you realize you are not alone, there are people fighting through this just like you , and your not ugly, your not broken don't be afraid to open up and look for help. To the creator of Lips I want to thank you for giving the opportunity for the world to watch this series honestly after crying and realizing I was not alone with this was the best gift ever. I would love to one day meet you and honestly thank you in person for this, its more than a web-series its a lesson for women everywhere. I am probably going to get people angry for writing this blog but its fine. Thank you for telling us your story, you don't know me but I want you to know you are the strongest and bravest person I ever met in my life. Thank you! If you ever see this please contact me I would love to speak to you. Follow them on instagram @lips_webseries Subscribe to them on youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxtn1ksPcuziac8i3nvjMTA
